If you always worry that someone will hack your business debit card information, or that the numbers for company credit cards will be released, you want to start using cheques instead. Be careful with cheques, get chequebook covers, and do everything that you can to keep the cheques safe so you don’t have to worry about problems with your banking information. One lost cheque can lead to a variety of problems, so you want to be sure to do the following.

Personalized Cheques

Get the cheques personalized and not just with your name and company information. Choose to do a specific image, like have your business logo printed on the cheques, or have another image put on so it’s very difficult for someone to duplicate the cheques. The more unique they are, from the font to the other information, the harder it is for someone to manipulate them or try to copy them. It may be best to only have the business name on the cheques, instead of individual names.

Chequebook Cover

Protect your cheques in leather or plastic cover so you don’t have to worry about them getting damaged by water, a drink or debris when they are out, and so they are easy to store. The cover prevents the cheques from getting bent, ripped or damages, which is important since you have to pay more for personalized cheques.

Safe In-Office Storage

Try not to carry around the cheques unless you have to actually use one for something, and then do your best to keep the in a safe within the office. This way you don’t have to take them anywhere with you and worry about losing them or having them stolen. Also, you don’t have to worry about inner-office theft if they are stored away in a safe.

Always make sure that you get the duplicate cheques with your books so you can verify the amount that you wrote each one for, and so you can determine if the handwriting matches up on some of the cheques. There are a lot of risks that you have to take when you are paying for items with any type of card, which is why a lot of businesses owners are trying to use cheques more and more. Look at the different design and protection options and find out what you can do to keep your finances safe with paper cheques.
